PublicMedia is a social enterprise – community interest company which has been set-up to support the introduction of more locally-based media services in the UK.
Through services via the internet, radio and publishing, PublicMedia aims to support the social and economic regeneration of local communities, and empower people with the knowledge to engage more effectively in civic society.
These services aim to open up the media to new voices and fresh ideas, fostering freedom of expression for all, especially those often absent from mainstream media. They will also create a space for new cultural and creative expression; supporting the development of the creative industries sector to produce new content designed to entertain as well as engage.
PublicMedia will operate according to a Policy of Equality, Diversity & Access, and adhere to the principles of the U.K.’s Community Media Charter and the international People’s Communication Charter; details of which can be found on the ‘about PM‘ link highlighted above.
